| Press or Assembly Time Too Short
| Apply proper amount of adhesive for plant conditions. |
| Do not use high temperatures to attain shorter press periods unless moisture content of stock is carefully controlled. |
| Use longer assembly time. |
| Moisture Content of Stock Too High
| Dehumidify plant in wet seasons. |
| Be sure stock is proper moisture content. |
| Non-Uniform Moisture Content (Wet Spots)
| Avoid worm-holes, dents, knots and fillers in stock that hold too much adhesive. |
| Press Temperature Too High
| Do not use high temperatures to attain shorter press periods unless moisture content of stock is carefully controlled. |
| Spread Too Heavy (Through Out or in Spots)
| Adjust planers to avoid planer marks. |
| Adjust saw blade to correct kerf marks. |
| Recover and/or regroove worn spreader rolls. |
| Replace worn bearings on spreader rolls if needed. |
| Use proper roll grooving and the required spread rate for type of adhesive used. |
| Spreader rolls must be parallel with each other and with doctor rolls. |
| Keep spreader rolls clean of dried adhesive. |
| Be sure top and bottom rolls apply an equal spread of adhesive. |
| Presence of Defects in Stock
| Avoid wormholes, dents, knots and fillers in stock that hold too much adhesive. |
